Star Anise Infused Coconut Rice

Infuse the aroma of star anise into a pot of coconut rice for a fragrant and flavourful side dish. Simply add a couple of whole star anise pods to the rice and coconut milk mixture before cooking. The result is a subtly spiced and aromatic rice that pairs perfectly with curries, stir-fries, or grilled vegetables.

Plant-based Pho with Star Anise Broth

Create a healthier version of the classic Vietnamese pho by using a star anise-infused vegetable broth as the base. Simmer the broth with star anise, cinnamon, cloves, and other traditional pho spices to develop a rich and aromatic flavour. Serve the broth with rice noodles, tofu, bean sprouts, and fresh herbs for a nourishing meal.

Baked Tofu Chunks with Star Anise Marinade

Add more flavour to your tofu by marinating it with star anise, rice wine, tamari, palm sugar, and peppercorns. Slice a block of tofu into rectangular planks, then sauté them in vegetable broth until lightly browned, adding more broth as needed. Bake the planks on a parchment-lined tray at 200°C for 20 minutes, then let them cool. Cut the tofu into small squares, mix with your favourite marinade, and refrigerate for at least an hour. Serve the flavourful cubes over rice or in salads with your choice of dressing. Delicious and versatile!
